2022 eXplore Virtual event

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management has decided to postpone the in-person eXplore conference to autumn 2022.

Nevertheless, in its place, the LCL will host the MIT SCALE-wide online event with the directors of all 5 MIT SCALE centres worldwide: MIT CTL in the US, NISCI in China, CLI in Colombia and ZLC in Spain. Panellists will share their own experience and discuss the topic: The Covid pandemic and global supply chains: lessons from the MIT SCALE network.

This pre-eXplore online event will be delivered in English.

The event time is 2:00 PM CET, 8:00 AM EST (13:00 UTC).

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, in all its variants, has rattled global supply chains for two years now with shockwave disruptions up, down, and sideways along the chains in a phenomenon known as the Bullwhip Effect. The mounting challenges range from shortages of essential parts and components, to sky-rocketing freight rates and wholesale and consumer price levels, to lengthy delays at ports and inventory out-of-stocks.

Is it time to upend the textbook prescriptions? In this MIT SCALE-wide panel, the directors of the five network centers worldwide will discuss their views and experiences on the evolution of global supply chains, while addressing questions such as: Is it time to shore up and shorten supply chains? Are global supply chains decoupling? Is this the end of lean and the start of just-in-case?

Agenda

  • General introduction & welcome by Carla Rosen-Vacher
  • Short introduction from each centre
  • Panel discussion
  • Q&A
