Don't miss the new silk road to China

Luxembourg and China keep knotting close ties. Shortly after the official Luxembourg visit in June, the Chamber of Commerce organizes a trade mission to Hong Kong, Zhengzhou and Shanghai on September 10-15 2017. The visit has a strong focus on E-Commerce and logistics and you are invited to participate to the mission dedicated to the Belt and Road initiative. The Belt and Road initiative provides a visionary blueprint for global economic development in the new world order. Taking reference from the historic Silk Road, which transformed the nature of international trade links in ancient times, the Initiative offers a modern-day solution that fosters inclusive growth and development in the 21st century.

E-Commerce in focus:

Exporters get a good view about the opportunities in China with help of Luxembourg's logistics specialists. They can empower you to sell your goods and services in the region.

The highlights of this mission are the visit of the airports in Hong Kong and Zhenghzou, both strong Cargolux hubs. Zhengzhou Airport's growth will change airport logistics in China. Like Luxembourgs Findel, the airport is a distribution hub for the whole region with Apple provider Foxconn as a local champion. The main airport of the Henan province, is situated between Beijing and Hongkong and is well connected to Shanghai, the last destination of the visit. Cargolux is cooperating with its stakeholder Henan authority for over three years and operates currently 15 flights per week which our Prime minister Bëttel calls "Silk Road in the Air". Per year, already 120,000 tons of goods are transported by Cargolux via this airport. And the expansion in the region is impressive. The 415-sq.-km. Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone evolving around Zhengzhou International Airport (CGO) is China’s fastest growing.

Hong Kong Airport has a long standing relationship with Luxembourg as well and the airport operators lux-Airport and Hong Kongs HACTL created the first GDP (Good Distribution Practice) certified air freight corridor in 2015. This certification regulates the handling of pharmaceuticals and ensures a high standard in the supply chain.
