We held our first Shippers council meeting on September 20th 2017 where we introduce the idea and gathered your thoughts and expectations. The council is dedicated to represent logistics interests of manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers.

Background
The Cluster for Logistics organized a meeting sponsored by the Ministry of Sustainable development (MDDI) with national manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers to create a shipper’s council in Luxembourg. During a lunch the Cluster and the MDDI introduced the idea and asked for thoughts and expectations as a Luxembourg council would be dedicated to represent their logistics interests.

Worldwide, many shippers are organised in dedicated national associations like the Dutch European Shippers Association (EVO) or the OTM Belgium Shippers Council. The European Shippers Council (ESC) (http://europeanshippers.eu/) based in Brussels represents the shippers’ interest on national and international level for over 50 years.

Among other things, the program of this first meeting included a discussion about the posted workers directive and a presentation of the Dutch LEAN & GREEN Off-Road Initiative by Program Manager, Jeroen Bolt.
