Logistics on Tour

During the Logistics on Tour Event, the Cluster for Logistics organized company visits with motivated students and teachers on a dedicated Tour-bus on 28th February and 3rd March. The students of 4e and 5e are potential apprentices for the logistics companies and have to choose a section soon. With this visit, the Cluster wishes to highlight the logistics sector and show its numerous interesting job opportunities. (check out the pictures above for an overview of the event)

The first trip to Bettembourg & Dudelange included the visit of the CFL multimodal terminal and Arthur Welter Transports warehouses at the Eurohub Sud. Students of 5e and 4e from the Lycée de Lallange got a glimpse of the logistics sector and learned more about the sector and the job possibilities in logistics. The teachers Eric Lambert and Marco Gasper gave an overview of the DT Logistics school course.

Paul Kronenberger, deputy director of CFL terminals, and his team explained the different railway transport modes of the terminal and the possible job opportunities at CFL mm.

Patrick Mergen, COO of Arthur Welter Transports, presented the activities of two AW warehouses on the Eurohub Sud site and gave job application tips to the future apprentices.

A second trip with about 20 students from the Lycée technique de Bonnevoie on 3rd March included a trip to Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) at the Contern Eurohub Centre and Luxport Group at the Port de Mertert.

The team around Katharina Luy, Ausbildungleiterin at K+N, presented the first warehouse in Contern and gave an overview of the apprenticeship opportunities and expectations in the numerous jobs of the group. An ex-apprentice gave a testimonial of his experiences at K+N.

Gilles Braquet, Managing Director at Thesi Lux, and Gernot Millen, Head of Human Resources of Luxport S.A., gave a tour of the port, which is an important trade hub for fuel, metal products and containers. The motivated students were able to give their CVs to the representatives in order to get an apprenticeship for the next schoolyear.

On secondary school level, students have access to  an advanced technical course for transport organisation (Diplôme de technicien/DT). The course offers a dual training system in schools and companies that prepare students directly to work life with practical and theoretical aspects.

The Cluster thanks the participating companies, schools and students for their interest and support during this event.
