About DuPont Luxembourg:

With 850 employees, DuPont is one of the largest industrial players in Luxembourg. The site stands for the ability to use science to develop and manufacture products that empower the world to thrive and meet the needs of the society.

DuPont invested in Luxembourg as of 1962. The Contern site started up in 1965 with two polyester film production lines. Over the years, DuPont invested more and more into other production lines at the Luxembourg site: Hytrel® thermoplastic elastomers, Typar® spunbonded polypropylene (nonwoven), Tyvek® spunbonded polyethylene (nonwoven) as well as into other polyester production lines. Since the year 2000 the polyester film production is operated by a joint venture between DuPont and Teijin Films.

In 2021 DuPont announced the intention to divest the largest part of its Mobility & Materials business. Since November 1, 2022, Celanese owns and operates these activities, which include the Hytrel® plant and the films manufacturing plant (formerly known as DuPont Teijin Films). Since then, the DuPont site in Contern operates as an industrial park.

The site has originally been conceived as a manufacturing facility. To better support the customers, service and marketing activities were however gradually consolidated at the same location. The international and multi-language environment offered by Luxembourg largely contributed to this transformation. The Luxembourg site has meanwhile grown into a European business center for many DuPont activities.

So-called nonwovens are manufactured here from the raw materials polypropylene and polyethylene under the brand names TYPAR® and TYVEK®. These nonwovens are used globally in a variety of applications from road construction and building drainage, medical protective masks and protective suits to the reinforcement of sports shoes. The logistics of the raw and finished products are planned and controlled from Luxembourg and Europe according to the most modern principles of the supply chain in order to serve customers worldwide.
